Valley Change focus is on a valley in Kajiado County, Kenya. The rains disappeared for a year between March 2022 - March 2023. Thousands of livestock and wildlife perished because of severe drought, including biodiversity loss. The climate crisis has come home to roost as such conditions are replicated in many parts of Kenya's savannah landscapes. The threat of ecosystem breakdown threatens our health, well-being, and survival. It's time each one of us takes action. Plant a tree and harvest as much water as you possibly can.
