Relaxation with a brief safari on a nature trail in Kenya. Some delightful rare encounter with an apex predator who prefers staying out of the limelight.
Leopards prefer woody terrain where they can rest in privacy, away from the open grasslands preferred by other cats like lions and cheetahs.
The leopard will only venture into the open to hunt. If successful, it carries or drags it's kill to any nearby tree. It will then haul the carcass up the tree, hang it on branches and feed in peace.
Not many other cats have the ability to climb to the top of a tree. This gives the leopard an advantage of feeding and resting in peace
However, mother leopards give birth and rear their cubs in selected dens.
They rotate living in different dens for protection of the young ones until they become independent at two years old.
